An Unusual Reminder

Its funny how much those little things mean to us. If its one thing I’ve learned through the years, its that nothing is as insignificant as it feels in that moment. I guess what I mean is that I never expected that some of the movies I’d seen as kids would have such a huge impact on me as I grew up. You really don’t think about the movies you watched endlessly when you were too young to understand them. Sometimes, when you look back, it can be really eye-opening.

If you’ve read my blog before, you might know at least one of my favorite movies, Clueless.giphy I‘ve always connected to this movie. I remember being a kid and just watching it, fascinated by everything about Cher Horowitz. Everything from her blonde hair that wasn’t too blonde but just blonde enough. The way she dressed, which was like…totally far out! Not only were her outfits on point, but her words of wisdom were just so great. This is one of the movies that I’ve spent the past 20 years of my life obsessed with. The more time I’ve spent thinking about it, the more this movie has meant to me.

I mean…Cher had everything that every totally 90’s girl wanted: a massive closet and a computer to put her outfits together (ugh I wish) and a cute white jeep she was driving even without a license (two permits DO NOT equal a license, Cher). Her innocence and ignorance just helped her win such a special place in my heart. Cher was the good girl of the group, something that helped me with many decisions in my life. She taught me to be true to myself before pleasing others.

Cher, like all of us, sometimes tried a little too hard. She practically threw herself at a guy who’d turn out to be gay. And GOODNESS it was a mess. But through everything she did, she always let confidence come forward and shine, regardless of what she was feeling. She taught me to be confident, even when I screw up. She taught me its okay to try new things, go out of my way to do something, and to just go with it if it doesn’t go my way!

But the best thing about Cher? She always striked me as surprisingly human for a superficial valley girl. Things got her down and out, and we got to see it. When things didn’t go her way, she literally was ‘clueless’, like we all can be sometimes. Cher taught me that its okay to have moments of doubt. No one is perfect and you should just be yourself.

So call me crazy if I’m the only one in the world who relates so much to this movie (UGH, as if!). I could go on and on about what makes me love this movie but truthfully, its a feeling that has always stuck with me since I first saw this movie. Everyone has something that they love and this (amongst many other movies) is one of my things.

I like to think of this movie as my reminder that even the most beautiful people can have their fair share of normal struggles! I watch it every now and then to have a few laughs and remind myself of the things I was so full of as a child. Honesty, courage and confidence. These three things I strive to be every day. Although I might not be 100% every day, I’m only human and I’m working on it!

What movies did you learn valuable life lessons from? Were there any movies that you grew up with that you can take a second look at now and see new things?

All about that booty!

When I started doing this blog, I think I ultimately knew that there was going to be at least one catastrophic pop culture event that I was hoping I would get to touch on. Looks like that time has come!

Obviously by now the majority of the world has already seen the pictures of Kim Kardashian’s most profitable asset. These photos have basically left the entire world gawking at their computer screen or phone screen or wherever the hell they’re looking. Remarks have been made by many celebrities, reporters and anyone else with a working brain. Be it good or bad, the whole worlds watching Kimmy show off her goodies and lets be real…the whole world is obsessed with her. Some might even go as far as saying the many people in the world idolize her, even celebrities like Lorde, who clarified her comments made when the picture was first .

I‘m a huge fan of the Kardashian family. I watch all the shows, read all the articles, follow most of them on Instagram, and obviously I play Kim Kardashian Hollywood. The minute these pictures came out, I freaked. Never did I expect to see Kim’s bare bottom gracing the cover of a magazine, especially after he past. Who knew that two days later I would be seeing the rest of Kim Kardashian.

Well the world is still undecided on their feelings about Kim Kardashian’s butt pictures amongst the other pictures that surfaced, but I know exactly how I feel. I love them. I think they’re great! Yes, obviously they’re edited. And yeah they might be a little bit risque… But it’s Kim Kardashian. What did you expect?

Some people have made remarks towards situations in the past with Kim, her emotional distress over being potentially naked for a playboy photoshoot, but that is ancient times! And obviously if you have ever watched KUWTK you must remember there infamous W magazine situation Kim faced with nudity issues in 2010. But honestly….that’s a long way back in the pop culture world. I guess you could still say some of us were a bit shocked to see her have a go at it again, but its a whole new world out there now.

This career started with nudity. In the years after the sex tape release, Kim tried as hard as possible to distance herself from being just a naked girl but like I said, this is so far in the past that its pratically ancient times. She isn’t a hypocrite for doing it again, she did something important…GREW UP. She grew up and made her own decision and didn’t let her past hinder her future. At this point in time, Kim is one of the most recognizable people in pop culture, shes known virtually everywhere and loved by MANY people. See, regardless of if you hate her or love her…you still know her name!

Although most people don’t see her as anything more than girl who got famous off a sex tape, or anything more than Kanye West’s wife, she is so much more than that. She is a pop culture icon and has done what many people have tried to do, make a life out of being nothing but famous. Paris Hilton, Kim’s former boss, is who started this trend. But Kim…she’s made a whole life out of it and oddly enough I find that somewhat admirable.

I love Kim, Kanye and the entire Kardashian clan. I find them entertaining, stylish, charming and interesting. I love to watch their drama unfold and see how their dramatic lives play out. I guess in my mediocre life there isn’t much drama to entertain me and that’s where they come in.

If you ask me I think Kim has come so far in her career, she has a fashion line with her sisters and many other products with her name and the rest of her family’s name on them. She is known around the world, people recognize her face and love that ass. So why shouldn’t you show it off, Kim? Yeah, she’s a mom… but so are porn stars, strippers and drug addicted celebrities. If you ask me, more power to Kim for showing off what shes got while most of us hide everything away, afraid of scrutiny. She is unafraid of ridicule or anything that might come her way. She has self confidence many people don’t.

So let’s be real here, who is a little nudity going to hurt? Her family still loves her, after all they’ve been through this is the least shocking of it all.  Kanye has done questionable things, bullying Taylor Swift, but he’s still obsessed with Kim. Her daughter will still grow up and adore her mother the way the rest of the world does. I think everyone is just a little bit upset that their booty isn’t on a cover of a magazine.

If you haven’t already read the article that goes along with the photos, I suggest you do so, No Filter: An Afternoon With Kim Kardashian.

I know this is a controversial topic, but I want to hear your opinions, give me some feedback!

No PSL for me.

Sorry not sorry but that pumpkin spice latte thing isn’t for me. I don’t get the obsession with it, everyone typical white girl loses her mind over it and I just don’t understand!
Not only is PSL a Starbucks drink but its also apparently a way of life? I just saw on Twitter a post about someone saying they like to casually drop “PSL” into conversation….WHY? I’m just confused.
Not just the pumpkin spice latte thing but the pumpkin spice everything! I guess America just likes to pick one flavor and beat it to death.

Pumpkin Spice Oreos… people actually enjoy them? I haven’t tried them but I don’t know if I could…they don’t exactly look good to me!

I wonder if I’m alone in my anti-PSL but maybe one day I’ll switch to the dark side.

Where do you stand on the whole PSL debate?

Makeup: bringing people together forever

One of the things most girls remember from childhood is playing with their moms makeup or just playing with makeup in general. I know its one of my fondest childhood memories with my mom. Who knew that by the time I was 20, my mom would be asking me for help doing her makeup instead of the other way around.

What I’m getting at here is that makeup is something that unites us and brings us together. I have such a love for makeup, not because it makes me feel beautiful but because it makes me feel like I can be whoever I want! I can go from sweet to sultry in a matter of seconds.

That was definitely the thing I loved most about makeup as a kid, being able to be someone else and playing dress up. You really weren’t a princess unless you had your tiara, heels, crown AND some pretty pink cheeks! I still feel the same, no outfit is complete without a little glam and sparkle!

Through my love of makeup, it has helped me bond with others. My best friend is stationed in Washington State (across the country from me) and we always collaborate on what makeup we love and share our new favorites. One of my other good friends actually introduced me to the wonderful world of Birchbox and helped me find some products that I truly love (reviews coming soon, I promise!) and it makeup has always been a great conversation topic for us to collaborate on!

My love of makeup has certainly helped me find my voice on this blog and it turns out I’ve actually done a decent job. I may not gain millions of followers over night but getting likes on posts and a few followers here and there really makes me feel like I’m doing good and its not a total failure!

Who knew all of this would come from those influential moments of childhood playing with mom’s makeup and getting all dolled up just because ‘why not’…not because I felt I had to or because I felt I needed makeup on my face but because I wanted to.

think sometimes we all need to feel like someone else and through beauty products and some fun playing with them we are completely able to ! Thats why I love makeup and why I LOVE writing this blog so much!

Thank you for being a part of my blog for the past few months and taking a journey with me as I explore what I love so much!

Being cute in cold weather is so hard!

Being cute in the cold…..such a hard task. Like no I don’t want to wear real pants…I want to wear yogas and leggings and sweatpants and be comfy and warm. But then….I just look like a sack of potatoes.
Massachusetts weather is so hard to dress for. If its freezing in the morning, it could be warm by lunch or who knows it could turn into a tundra over night. The weather is so tempermental! I mean its about 35 this morning when I leave for school….with a high of 60 today….so I have to dress for whatever the hell weather decides to happen.
Plus don’t forget….there’s a chance of rain too!

Basically, its impossible for me to dress for cold weather without looking like Randy from A Christmas Story…I just hate being cold.
How does one be cute yet warm….teach me someone….
